Full Smile Makeover

Sacramento, Modesto and Stockton, California

Simply put, a smile makeover refers to a combination of dental procedures that work to change the entire appearance of your smile. A smile makeover enhances the beauty and appearance of your smile, while correcting almost any dental problem. Our patients have found that making your mouth healthy and your smile the best it can be will improve your quality of life significantly.

We all know that a beautiful smile builds confidence and improves self-image. While your smile is one of the first attributes people notice when they first meet you, we believe the rest of your mouth is just as important. For this reason, our full smile makeover is one of the most life-changing cosmetic dental procedures we perform.

A full smile makeover by Dr. Swearingen may be the best solution for you if you have one or any combination of the following dental problems:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Gummy smiles

The Smile Makeover Process

Smile makeovers are usually created with the use of porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns and/or porcelain onlays. These all offer a natural look and feel and can dramatically change the length, width, color and shape of the tooth. Veneers, crowns, and onlays restore teeth to their natural beauty and create an enduring whiter, brighter smile.

Once Dr. Swearingen helps you determine the "style" of your desired smile, he will take an impression of your existing teeth and send that impression to a lab with precise instructions of what your smile should look like. The lab creates a wax model of how the smile will look. You will review this with Dr. Swearingen and either make changes or give the lab approval to proceed. Then the lab creates your new "teeth," typically some combination of porcelain veneers, crowns, and inlays/onlays.

After the wax up is approved, Dr. Swearingen prepares your teeth, takes a new impression, and fits you with temporary replacements. In three to four weeks, the porcelain restorations are ready and the porcelain is bonded to your teeth.

Patients typically experience tender gums for just a couple of days after porcelain veneers are bonded to their teeth. Ibuprofen eases this minor discomfort for most patients. After a week or two, you will return to our office so Dr. Swearingen can make any minor necessary adjustments. You will leave with new, bright, healthy teeth, a new confidence, and the smile you have always dreamed of having.
